3 DAYS AND 4 NIGHTS
Trip Overview
Come experience our Galavant Garden Weekend in Historic Charleston, SC. Get a rare glimpse into the private houses and gardens of the Holy City. The Festival of Houses and Gardens happens once a year in Charleston and is sponsored by the Historic Charleston Foundation. Come see the low country homes of Charleston and gardens filled with blooms. Galavant does this three day excursion like all our trips, always with style! Stay at the four star French Quarter Inn on Church Street (or similar). The location in the historic section of the city provides a great starting point for our tours and your own exploration of Charleston’s Historic District.
This weekend includes three nights at the inn, breakfast each morning there, two lunches and two dinners. It’s also the perfect trip to add to - a few more days in the city or the area. Or add a few relaxing days at one of the nearby islands.
What a great ladies weekend! The best idea is to do it all with friends…
DAY 1...Arrival
Make your way down south by car or fly. You’ll be checking into The French Quarter Inn (or similar) in the afternoon. Join your group for drinks at one of the areas awesome rooftop bars. You’ll then head to dinner at one of the many wonderful restaurants like The Ordinary or The Grocery. Options are endless in this foodie city!!
DAY 2...TOUR & LUNCH Lecture
After breakfast you may wander around on King Street to do some shopping before lunch. You can start the day off with a luncheon lecture. There are many to choose from like “Innovative Women Who Shaped Charleston” or “Charleston Gardens: Past & Present”.
After an interesting and yummy lunch, you’ll experience The South Battery Tour. (Tours go on rain or shine.) This takes us into the construction of the postbellum era including early 20th century waterfront mansions, some of which overlook White Point Garden and the Charleston Harbor, along South Battery and Murray Boulevard. Gorgeous.
This evening you can wander the wonder-filled streets and dinner is wherever you’d like. Suggestions will be plentiful and we’ll need to make your reservations well ahead!
DAY 3…FULL-BLOOM IN CHARLESTON
After breakfast, join in on a morning history walking tour. Led by one of Charleston’s most experienced certified guides, this two hour tour takes you through the old and historic district, and provides the perfect background for our afternoon tour. You might even find your own secret garden.
You’ll enjoy lunch at any one of a number of local favorites, perhaps Eli’s Table (or similar), before heading on to our afternoon tour.
This afternoon, enjoy The Meeting Street Tour. (Tours go on rain or shine.) Residences in this neighborhood date from the earliest period of English settlement on the peninsula, to a later, more imposing period of dwellings, built in Greek Revival and Italianate fashions.
Dinner tonight is at one of our favorites. We’ll make reservations for you. This town brings style and charm to its’ guests and never fails to deliver beautiful and delicious food. We might even be able to arrange a special dinner just for your group on your final night in C’Town.
DAY 4...HEADING HOME
After a leisurely breakfast, you can check out and head for home, or check your bags at the desk, and spend the day enjoying some shopping! Another idea is to explore one of the many lovely plantations (Boone or Middleton) before heading home. Your private transfer can pick you up at the hotel and whisk you off to the nearby airport whenever you are ready.
